What Are Chemical Peels?
We have medical-grade chemical peels available to men and women in Provo, UT at Xage Medical Spa. Our chemical peels, such as a SkinCeuticals Peel and The Perfect Peel, and ccccorrective peels from PCA, may provide you with numerous options. As an exfoliant, a chemical peel can clear away that damaged layer of skin causing your complexion to look dull and aged. Once your skin peels from this treatment, your skin will reveal a fresher, luminous layer on your face, neck, and décollatage (if applied).
Your skin can look healthier and more radiant after a chemical peel by our master aestheticians at Xage Medical Spa. You can consult with our board-certified physician, Dr. Stuart B. Porter, about your skin issues to see if a chemical peel is right for you. We offer chemical peel treatments to assist in resolving skin irregularities like scars, wrinkles, fine lines, uneven patches, hyperpigmentation issues, and more.
Can I Have A Chemical Peel?
Why do I need a peel? Our skin naturally exfoliates, gently shedding dead skin cells so subtly that most of us don’t even notice. However, as we age, this process tends to slow, resulting in a dull complexion.
Chemical peels speed up the exfoliation process, encouraging cell turnover that leaves the skin looking fresh and healthy. Ingredients in the peel solution are also working to create new cells that function properly, not only visibly improving the skin, but correcting from within. Receiving the advice of a cosmetic professional is the first part in the journey to smooth, healthy skin.
A team member at Xage Medical Spa can evaluate your skin during an evaluation in our Provo, UT office before choosing a chemical peel treatment for the best results.
Chemical peel patients, of both genders, typically have visible problems on their skin such as scars, rough patches, flaky skin, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, sun spots, and more. We will recommend different types of peels to fit your needs and concerns.
Our Chemical Peel Technique
On the day of your appointment at Xage Medical Spa, we will have you lie down in a comfortable position to administer your peel. Your chemical peel can be administered by an aesthetician in 30 minutes.
We will ensure your skin is cleaned before applying the personalized solution to your face, neck, and/or décollatage. We will brush the solution onto your face and let it soak in for an appropriate amount of time, which will be determined during your treatment planning. Next, we will clean the peel off your face and put on a neutralizing agent (if necessary).
You are encouraged to bring a hat to wear outside after the treatment to avoid sun exposure because your face will be sensitive to sunlight.
After Your Peel Appointment
Depending on the type of chemical peel you receive, you can expect your skin to feel dry and tight and peel for several days to a couple of weeks. If you had a light, superficial peel, then your recovery time will be minimal, allowing for treatments that won’t disrupt your schedule. When medium-to-deep chemical peels are applied to your skin, it may take longer to recover. Dr. Porter or a member of his team will go over how to care for your face during your consultation.
Make sure to:
- Moisturize your facial skin
- Apply sunscreen as needed
- Avoid going out into direct sunlight
Please keep in mind that no matter how much your skin itches throughout the healing process, it’s not a good idea to pick the skin off because doing so could cause scarring.
