What is BBL (Broadband Light)?
BBL (BroadBand Light) therapy can improve the aesthetics of your skin by helping it appear younger and smoother.
The therapeutic light energy from the BBL gently warms the skin as it targets pigment and breaks it up so it can come to the surface and flake off, and can also stimulate collagen production.
Patients with an array of skin conditions may benefit from BBL, as it functions to fade out unwanted freckles, rosacea, broken blood vessels, vascular lesions and sun damage. Our BBL is an aesthetic treatment that can be added to other services we offer to meet your skincare goals.
At Xage Medical Spa in Provo, UT, we offer BBL to patients at the recommendation of our board-certified physician, Dr. Stuart B. Porter. Call for a consultation today
Who Qualifies For BBL (Broadband Light)?
A great candidate for BBL is anyone who has hyperpigmentation or unevenly textured skin. These symptoms could be caused by acne, sun damage, damaged capillaries, or rosacea. BBL can also help to make the skin appear more youthful by initiating the production of collagen.
Your sessions of BBL can be used as a treatment and/or maintenance regimen for a variety of skin conditions. Prior to undergoing treatment, we will help you understand how BBL technology may help you.
Our BBL (Broadband Light) Technique
After creating a suitable treatment plan, the settings of the BBL device will be adjusted to fit your unique needs. Before starting the therapy, your eyes will be protected with eyelid shields. We will then lightly pass the hand piece over your skin while focusing on the treatment sites.
The amount of time needed for your therapy will change depending upon the skin condition and whether any other services were included in the BBL treatment. This treatment ordinarily takes about one hour or less.
After Your BBL (Broadband Light) Treatment
Following the IPL therapy, a soothing serum may be applied to your skin. Our team may also offer post-treatment care directions. You will need to limit your exposure to the sun after BBL.
Your skin will be highly sensitive to sunlight. Most of our patients are able to return to their regular daily routine. Results from BBL may be noticed in 2 – 6 weeks following the first treatment, but the best results will be seen after repeat BBL sessions. We will make a recommendation on the number of BBL sessions you will need to achieve your desired outcome. After the procedure, you will continue to age and to be affected by the sun and elements.
You can return to our office periodically for touch-up treatments to maintain the healthy glow your treatments can bring.
